During the 1730’s James Deneson (Dennison) and others settled in what is today known asĀ  Southbridge, Massachusetts. It was not until 1816 that Southbridge was officially incorporated, coming out of land previously part of Charlton, Dudley, and Sturbridge.

The town was officially incorporated on February 15, 1816, while James Madison served as the country’s fourth President of the United States.
